Publication date: June 28, 2025
Date of last review: June 24, 2025

Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH places great importance on digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are committed to providing all users with an inclusive online experience, in full compliance with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and all relevant accessibility standards. These include EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as well as the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG) and the Accessibility Enhancement Ordinance (BFSGV) issued on its basis. Our goal is to make our digital services easy to use and understand for everyone.

Scope of this statement
This accessibility statement applies to the services under the BFSG that Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH offers on the website www.lufthansa-aviation-training.com. It was created on 24/06/2025 and is reviewed and updated as needed.

Description of the service pursuant to § 1 paragraph 3 number 5 in conjunction with number 26 and Annex 3 to the BFSG

Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH offers a digital portal via its website www.lufthansa-aviation-training.com for information and booking related to professional aviation training – including training for cockpit crews, cabin and emergency training, safety & service modules as well as computer-based learning programs. The service is aimed at consumers (e.g. training officers, pilots, and cabin crew) and enables the booking and management of training via the website, as well as information about the training offer and the available training equipment.

Descriptions and explanations required to understand the delivery of the service
On the Lufthansa Aviation Training website, users can primarily inform themselves about the training offer and the available training devices, and then get in touch via the contact form or through a direct sales contact.

Measures to support accessibility
To ensure compliance with the requirements of the BFSG and related accessibility standards, Lufthansa Aviation Training continuously implements the following measures:

  1. Audits: We regularly conduct both automated and manual accessibility audits to systematically review our digital offerings for compliance with WCAG 2.1, Level AA, and EN 301 549. These reviews help us identify and remove potential barriers.

  2. Training: We provide ongoing and comprehensive training for our content managers, designers, and developers to ensure they are familiar with best practices in accessibility and can apply these principles throughout all phases of content creation and development.

  3. Integration into the development cycle: Accessibility is integrated into our software development lifecycle from initial design and planning to testing and deployment, following a “born accessible” approach wherever possible.

  4. Specialized accessibility team: We have a dedicated team responsible for monitoring and promoting digital accessibility initiatives across our digital platforms.

Conformance status
Based on our most recent evaluations, the website www.lufthansa-aviation-training.com is partially compliant with the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and the European standard EN 301 549, as referenced in the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG). This means that substantial parts of the website already meet the relevant accessibility requirements, but some areas still need improvement to achieve full compliance. We are actively working to eliminate these remaining barriers.

Accessibility review and assessment
As part of our continuous compliance process, the website www.lufthansa-aviation-training.com has been extensively assessed by our accessibility experts based on the four core principles of digital accessibility ("POUR"):

  • Perceivable: Review of alternative text use for non-text content, provision of text-based alternatives for multimedia (e.g., subtitles, transcripts), compliance with sufficient color contrast to improve readability, and adaptability of presentation without loss of information or structure.

  • Operable: Analysis of keyboard operability to ensure all interactive elements can be accessed and used via keyboard alone, effective focus management for assistive technology users, and appropriate control of time-based content.

  • Understandable: Verification of clear and meaningful page titles, logically structured heading hierarchy for easy navigation, consistent navigation mechanisms, and effective input assistance to help users avoid and correct errors.

  • Robust: Ensuring compatibility with a wide range of assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnification software) and adherence to semantic HTML structures to allow reliable machine interpretation of content.

In addition to our internal processes, our website has been reviewed by external accessibility experts. We also regularly test our websites in collaboration with people with disabilities to identify barriers.

Identified accessibility issues
Despite significant efforts to make the website accessible, we have identified that the following content and functional areas may not yet be fully accessible. We are actively working to address these issues:

  • Missing alternative text: Some images lack appropriate alternative text descriptions. We are reviewing and updating the image descriptions.

  • Inadequate heading hierarchy: Headings are sometimes skipped or not logically arranged. We are working on a consistent, semantic heading structure.

  • Non-descriptive links: Links such as “Click here” or “More” are unclear. We are replacing them with descriptive link texts.

  • Complex forms and interactive elements: Some forms or interactive components may be difficult to use with keyboards or screen readers. We are optimizing them for better accessibility.

  • Third-party content: Embedded tools from third parties may not fully meet our standards. We strive to provide accessible alternatives wherever possible.

  • PDF documents: Some PDF files may not be fully accessible. We are reviewing them and will replace or appropriately label them as needed.

  • Videos without subtitles: Not all videos are provided with subtitles or transcripts. We are working on adding subtitles to improve comprehension.

  • Session timeouts: For security reasons, session timeouts cannot always be extended. We strive to maintain an appropriate balance between usability and security.

  • Not all images and graphic functions have clear alternative texts, and some lack alternative texts altogether.

  • Not all form elements have programmatically determinable labels – focus order is partially unclear, and keyboard focus is not always clearly visible.

  • For some controls, the accessible name does not match the visible name – not all PDF documents are accessible.

  • Our sliders may still present interactive issues when operated via keyboard.

  • Form control: For selection fields, the current focus state is not always visually clear.

  • Keyboard navigation: When navigating via keyboard, the visible focus (e.g., highlight) is not consistently recognizable. This especially affects certain controls on form pages.

  • Focus indicator: When using the website with a keyboard, the focus is not clearly indicated in all areas. In some cases, the visual cue for the focused element is missing or limited.

  • Certain visual elements – especially text over images or graphic backgrounds – may occasionally have low color contrast. This particularly affects visually emphasized areas.

  • We are constantly working to improve our website/app. Unfortunately, due to the volume of content, we have not yet been able to make all content and services fully digitally accessible. We are committed to removing all identified barriers for people with disabilities as soon as possible.

A comprehensive plan to address the identified issues has been initiated to enable a timely resolution. Accessibility improvements will be rolled out incrementally across the platform once they have been completed and thoroughly tested.
